ABOUT US

Yo HBCU WRAPS LOGO Shadow.png

Yo! HBCU Wraps designs, markets, and sells products that promote and support the advancement of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

Our Goals

Our goal is to be the pride and joy of the HBCU e-commerce community through 1) the production of quality products, 2) the implementation of responsible and ethical business practices and 3) the acceleration of sustainable growth for our beloved HBCUs.

The statement, “out of sight, out of mind” is very true.  Yo! HBCU Wraps products remind both the buyer and the recipient of the beauty and pride of HBCUs, perpetuating a consistent and prominent presence for years to come.

What We Believe

We believe in celebrating the rich history, legacy and existence of HBCUs.

We believe that HBCUs are not only the crown jewels of Black America, as their innumerable contributions affirm their value to American society as a whole.

We believe in building relationships, not sales.  We retain customers as a means to retain support for HBCUs.

We believe in social responsibility.  While HBCUs are traditionally underfunded and often struggle for resources, we are committed to the monetary support of HBCUs.

We believe that no HBCU is exactly like another, and therefore, neither should their product designs! We represent each university’s uniqueness in the styling of our products.

Our History

Like many HBCUs, Yo! HBCU Wraps was birthed amidst crisis and extreme social conditions. In March of 2020, US citizens were forced to quarantine due to deadly health risks caused by Covid-19. Social spaces, schools and businesses closed, causing US employment and financial markets to crash. With financial troubles looming, HBCUs adhered to health and safety precautions and closed schools midway through the spring semester of 2020. Due to the financial fragility of HBCUs, many knew their closures threatened their existence. Troubled and concerned by that stark reality, Dr. Jirmar Proctor (Prairie View A&M University and Texas Southern University alum) created Yo! HBCU Wraps. The e-commerce business venture funnels a share of profits from every item sold to its respective HBCU. And, that's not all!  The HBCU branded products allow customers to show their HBCU pride and affiliations, which raises HBCU awareness and furthers the cycle of support.
